Varied, open and longer course at La Cala Resort with spectacular topography. Tactically demanding yet fair — my personal favourite of the three courses.
Strengths
- Spectacular, varied layout
- More open than Asia, yet tactically demanding
- Longer than the other courses → greater sporting challenge
- Many impressive holes (1, 16, 18)
- Beautiful topography with elevation changes
- More visibility than Asia (fewer blind shots)
- Wider fairways → better playability with small, fast and undulating greens
- Best views in the resort (highest point at hole 16)
- Personal favourite course at La Cala Resort
Weaknesses
- Higher ball loss due to topography and layout
- Small, undulating greens punish mistakes immediately
- Challenging for shorter hitters due to length
- Driving range only reachable by shuttle/car
- Overall demanding for beginners
The America Course is the most versatile and spectacular course at La Cala Resort — open, long and tactically demanding, yet fair to play at the same time.
Location & Character
The course winds through the open, hilly landscape and repeatedly offers wide views across the entire resort.
Compared to Europa and Asia, it has a more open layout and feels more generous in its routing.
Course Overview
The America Course is longer than the other two courses and thrives on its topography.
You initially play down into the valley before the course rises again towards a higher plateau at the end — a layout that truly stays in your memory.
Playing Experience
The course offers a perfect blend of playability and challenge.
Wider fairways provide confidence from the tee, while length, undulating greens and strategic lines demand a well-thought-out game.
Highlights:
Hole 1: spectacular tee shot into the valley
Hole 16: par 3 with impressive views
Hole 18: strong finish with risk/reward option
The greens are small, fast and undulating — mistakes are punished immediately.
Course Maintenance & Condition
The course is in very good condition.
Fairways are consistently well-maintained and green, greens are reliably fast and true.
As with the other courses: high quality throughout the entire resort.
Practice Facilities & Infrastructure
The infrastructure matches the overall La Cala standard:
Carts for all players
Very good pace of play through organisation
Buggy service on the course
The only downside:
The driving range is only accessible by shuttle or car.
Club Life & Atmosphere
The typical La Cala Resort feel:
professional, relaxed and high-quality.
The clubhouse offers a pleasant atmosphere with views over the course.
Who Is It For
Perfect for:
Mid to low handicappers
Players who want to combine length with tactical golf
Golf trips with a sporting edge
Also suitable for:
ambitious beginners (more playable than Asia)
Less suitable for:
Players with very short hitting distance
Golfers who prefer easy, flat courses
Felix Proske's Verdict
The America Course is, for me, the best course at La Cala Resort.
It combines playability, length and spectacular topography like no other of the three courses.
Anyone who plays here gets exactly what a golf trip should be about.
Conclusion
The America Course is the most varied and, for many, the most exciting course at La Cala. Longer, more open and tactically strong — my personal favourite at the resort.
